A Landscape Worth Protecting
In 2025, the Red River Gorge Climber’s Coalition protected 718 acres of the former Ashland Wildlife Management Area, preserving more than 14 miles of cliffline and establishing the Cave Fork Recreational Preserve.
It is a powerful example of what thoughtful stewardship can accomplish, and a reminder that the future of the Gorge depends on protecting the natural character that makes it extraordinary.
